Manteno, IL – On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Manteno Community Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure fire at 333 S. Spruce St. in Manteno. While crews were responding, incident information was updated to indicate a reported battery fire. Auto-aid units from Manhattan, Bourbonnais, Grant Park, Bradley, and Aroma Park also responded but were returned prior to their on-scene arrival.
Manteno Fire crews arrived on scene within five minutes, confirmed that the facility had been fully evacuated, and determined that the fire had already been extinguished by fire brigade members. Fire brigade members isolated the battery pack and removed it from the building to a quarantine area while Manteno Fire crews remained on standby and monitored the situation.
Manteno Fire crews remained on scene for approximately 20 minutes to ensure the building and surrounding environment were safe for employees to return. The incident posed no hazard to the public, Gotion employees, or fire personnel. The fire remains under investigation at this time.
